Bridal Showcase at Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel in partnership with David Jones

Oak & Linden were truly honoured when our friends at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel asked us to style and create the floristry for the David Jones Bridal Showcase. Hosted by Terry Biviano and Kate Waterhouse, this was certainly an afternoon spent in style!

We have installed a number of weddings in Watsons Bay’s stunning Sunset Room but I have to say that this one is my favourite thus far. Of course working with our friends Written by Hand and D&d Letterpress helped us to take the table styling to another  level!

Still, there was no time to stand back and admire our handy work. I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest for the event so off I ran to perform a cinderella transformation from stylist/florist to successful business woman. Somehow I managed to get the plant matter from under my nails and swap my joggers for heels. (I can’t believe I managed to scrub up so well in 15 minutes!)

The soiree began with guests arriving in fleet of gorgeous cars from Roll Up In A Rolls.  We were greeted with a chilled glass of Moët  & Chandon and the sounds Scot Finnie performing on a stunning baby grand piano.

As I sipped my Champagne and rubbed shoulders with some of the best talent in the bridal industry and media, I took a moment to reflect on just how far Oak & Linden has come since relocating from London  a mere year and a half ago.

Anyway, back to the Showcase. After being treated to some delicious canapés, we took our seats ready for the main event. Our hosts Kate Waterhouse and Terry Biviano talked us through some looks the biggest and best names in the bridal business, including Monique Lhuillier, Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Temperley London, Steven Khalil, Rachel Gilbert, Karen Willis Holmes, Mariana Hardwick and Lisa Gowing.

Executive Chef John Pye created a bespoke menu for the luncheon with dishes such as Gippsland grass fed tenderloin with cauliflower puree, asparagus and barolo sauce and ‘Kia Ora’ New Zealand salmon with fresh green pea puree, Tasmanian horseradish and watercress salad. To finish, we were invited to taste macarons by Ladurée Paris.

It was truly a spectacular afternoon by the sea and I loved each and every minute of it! The fashion from David Jones Level Seven was set to return, along with Oak & Linden for the Consumer Showcase the following week. Stay tuned to hear all about it future blog posts!
